After honing his all new act at a series of secret 'warm up' nights in small venues around the region, Peter Kay said: "After seven years away from stand up it was a bit scary getting back in front of a live audience, but the response has been great and I just can't wait for the arena shows to start in two weeks time."

The Bolton funny man will perform exclusively at the M.E.N Arena this month on 27th, 28th, 29th & 30th April and 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st & 22nd May.

1: The star of the BAFTA-winning Phoenix Nights, Max & Paddy's Road To Nowhere and Britain's Got The Pop Factor returns to his hometown North West venue for the first time since his 2003 Mum Wants A Bungalow tour.

2: Speaking ahead of his Manchester return, Peter said: "Writing my book recently made me realise just how much I used to love and have missed performing stand-up. I'm delighted to be performing at the magnificent M.E.N Arena, it feels like home to me, in fact I can see my house from the roof!"

3: The star of 2009's Children In Need single, Kay first broke onto the comedy scene in 1996 when he won North West Comedian of the Year.

His self-penned autobiography, The Sound of Laughter, sold over one million copies in the first three months of release and now ranks as the biggest selling British hardback autobiography of all time. His follow-up, Saturday Night Peter, has been top of the bestsellers list since being published in September.
