22/05/10 Peter Kay Declares M.E.N Arena Residency 'The Happiest Time Of My Working Life'

As Peter Kay gears up for his final Manchester shows of 2010, he has declared his record-breaking four-week residency as "the happiest time of my working life".

Over the last four weeks more than 200,000 fans have descended on the ManchesterArena for the Bolton comedian's 'The Tour That Doesn't Tour Tour'

And, despite admitting to being "incredibly nervous" before getting up on the Arena stage he calls "home", Peter can't wait to return in 2011.

"I can honestly say the past four weeks have been the happiest time of my working life. I've enjoyed every minute of it and, even though I'm tired, I'll be sad to see the end of the run, but the show will be back at the ManchesterArena next year for another fifteen nights and, if they're anything like the last, I can't wait".

Peter also admits his return to stand-up after a seven year break couldn't have started anywhere other than the ManchesterArena. "It's unbelievable, playing live at the ManchesterArena after working as a steward is still very hard to comprehend. I was working there on the very first night with Torvill & Dean (although they weren't stewarding). It was 1995 and I'd just started performing stand-up in and around Manchester, now to be playing there is surreal beyond words. But it's also incredibly comfortable, like playing at home. The staff are all so nice and a lot of them friends, not to mention the people of the North West who have all made the whole experience so memorable".

Peter Kay returns with 'The Tour That Doesn't Tour - The Farewell Tour' from 27 September to 15 October 2011. Tickets are on sale now.
